David Hannay, Chief Science Officer

David Hannay is the Chief Science Officer at JASCO Applied Sciences and an underwater acoustician, specializing in measuring underwater noise from vessels and recording sounds made by marine animals. David’s work is primarily aimed at assessing and reducing effects of man-made noise on marine fauna. He is currently leading the installation of a cabled underwater listening station in Boundary Pass, British Columbia that will measure the noise emissions of passing ships and will be able to detect calls from cetaceans, including southern resident killer whales.
